With the growing popularity of computer science in the 21st century. In the 19th century, this led to the invention of a wide range of tools and frameworks that greatly facilitated the development of developers. And since there are many possibilities, you choose the one that offers the best services and meets the needs and requirements of the project. A tool that has become crucial for all, if not all, developers is the use of an integrated development environment (IDE) or a text editor.

The IDE is a complete suite of tools designed to specialize in specific languages and offers many features for working with users. These skills include not only the ability to read and write programs, but also to compile and debug programs. Text editors, on the other hand, offer a broader approach because they enable users to create and modify the content of all types of programming language files. From a huge collection of these tools, VS Code has made a name for itself and has become one of the most popular editors on the market, especially for the C++ language. So today we are going to see how we can install and configure the US code in Ubuntu so that users can run C++ programs and debug.

What is a US code?

Before we go into detail, let’s give you an overview of what the US code really means and the benefits it offers.

VS Code, developed by Microsoft, is a cross-platform open source editor, packed with features and support for multiple extensions that add even more functionality to an already powerful editor. It cannot be classified as an IDE, but it is much more than a traditional word processor would think. Features that allow users to organize their files and folders and create multiple tabs to work with, as well as the ability to debug their programs and view their code, make it an exciting and comprehensive editor. What’s more, it’s highly customizable as users can customize themes, change workspace settings or even customize new keyboard shortcuts. And what makes it even better is that it’s completely free.

Now we finally want to see how we can install the US code on Ubuntu.

1) Check which version of Ubuntu you have.

Since there are 32-bit and 64-bit US codes, the first thing you want to do before you start working is to check which version of Ubuntu you are currently using. Open the terminal first with Ubuntu Dash or by pressing the key combination Ctrl+Alt+T. After opening the terminal, enter the following command:

Registering the processor mode(s) will tell you which binary version of Ubuntu you are using.

2) PC code setting in Ubuntu

Ubuntu offers several ways for users to install the US code on their computer. Let’s take a look at some of them:

(a) US code installation with Snap-In

Snap is a management system developed by Canonical that allows users to install software and packages on their systems. Snaps are popular because they work in almost all Linux distributions and provide users with the latest version. Users can easily install the VS code by executing the following command on the command line:

$ sudo snap installation – classic code

The US code can then be found in the list of installed applications.

(b) Installation of US code via Debian files

However, some users found that VS code snap-ins were less stable and buggy. Another way to install the US code is to download and install the Debian files from the GUI or from the command line. We look both ways.

First go to the Code VS website and click on download. You will see several download options. Select the one that meets the requirements of your system. (image below)

After downloading the file, double click on the file and the window will open.

Click the Set button to set the PC code.

To install Debian files from the command line, enter the following command in the :

$ install sudo apt .deb

However, for older distributions the following command must be entered:

install sudo dpkg -i .deb
sudo apt-get -f

3- US Code provision for C++ development

First open the terminal and type the following command to check if the Mingw tool is installed on your system or not:

If you don’t see the g++ information in the terminal, install it from the Mingw website.

Then we create a new folder and open this folder in US code. All this can be done by executing the following commands:

mkdir folder name
$ cd folder name
$ code .

Then click on the new file option and call it helloworld.cpp

Now go to the extensions tab (image below).

Then type C++ in the search field and click on the first option that appears. This will open a new window with some good instructions to start working with C++ on VS code. Click in this window on the installation option under the C++ header, which starts the installation of the C++ extension

on the VS code.

Look for the Code Runner extension in the same way and install it. To check if they are installed, go to the Installed extensions tab.

Now open your helloworld.cpp file and insert the following source code:

int main () {
cout <<< Hello World << endl;
return 0;

In the upper right corner of the US code you will see a play button. This is the Code Runner extension we installed earlier. Just click on it and your C++ program will start.

VS-Code is a complex program that has everything a developer would expect from a code editor. It also offers a number of powerful additional features and an easy-to-use interface that many experienced developers can customize to their needs.
